Paint-A-Thon

paintathon

Set to celebrate its 30th Anniversary in 2008, the Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. (BRI) Paint-A-Thon is among the state’s largest single-day volunteer event that serves seniors.

With help from volunteer teams and its presenting sponsors, Brothers Redevelopment plans to paint more than 100 homes in multiple metro area cities.  Throughout the event’s history, Brothers Redevelopment has painted homes in Aurora, Arvada, Brighton, Centennial, Colorado Springs, Commerce City, Denver, Englewood, Federal Heights, Greenwood Village, Highlands Ranch, Hudson, Lakewood, Littleton, Longmont, Loveland, Northglenn, Pueblo, Thornton, Westminster, Wheat Ridge and in unincorporated Adams County.

All house painting is completed FREE OF CHARGE for senior homeowners who likely would pay more than $5,000 to have their house painted by a commercial contractor.  It’s a tremendous savings for elderly homeowners—especially when you consider that the average Paint-A-Thon recipient is 72 years-old and lives on a fixed monthly income of approximately $1,000.

But while the Paint-A-Thon serves seniors, the event appeals to volunteers of all ages, professions and persuasions. Participating volunteer teams represent nearly every community sector, from the corporation to the local church.  Government agencies, civic, professional and service-oriented groups also are represented among the event’s many caring volunteer teams.

It’s easy to see why.  In just a few hours on a sunny Saturday, volunteers can easily and quickly see the results of their hard work—enabling them to walk away with a sense of accomplishment. The result of their teamwork increases a home’s value, boosts homeowner pride and lends to a neighborhood’s stabilization.

In 2007, the value of the volunteer labor surpassed $125,000 and collectively saved recipients more than $300,000 in home maintenance costs.
