Home Maintenance & Repair
The Home Maintenance and Repair program is Brothers Redevelopment's cornerstone initiative.
Through the program, 'Brothers" provides home repairs that improve safety and/or ease of mobility for the region's low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners. Working with caring volunteers that we recruit both locally and nationally, Brothers Redevelopment is able to contain the costs of expensive repairs, and offers qualified senior and disabled homeowners an affordable option to commercial contractors.
The projects most frequently requested by seniors include electrical, heating, and plumbing repairs. Disabled homeowners most often request construction of a wheelchair ramp, retrofitting the bathroom and widening doorways.
A handfull of local governments, including Adams County and
the cities of Northglenn and Thornton, contract with Brothers
Redevelopment to help homeowners and improve housing
conditions in their communities. The agency also teams with
federal and state agencies to coordinate repairs for deserving
homeowners.
The successful program is gaining prominence with local media outlets. Jason Stutzman, the program's coordinator, is regularly featured in a segment called "Hammer Time" on KUSA-TV's mid-morning talk show, Colorado and Company (www.9news.com/coco).
