With help from Mennonite Housing Development Corporation, agency preserves affordable housing for low-income residents in Denver's toney Uptown Neighborhood

Continuing its efforts to make housing available and affordable for low-income elderly and disabled residents, Brothers Redevelopment last week purchased the 81-unit William Tell Apartment complex in Denver's bustling Uptown Neighborhood.
Leveraging a generous $917,500 grant from the Mennonite Housing Development Corp. that enabled Brothers to secure financing, the agency increased to 576 the number of units it makes available to low-income Front Range residents
"To preserve housing affordability among low- to moderate-income residents in the metro area, Brothers chose to purchase this great new site located in the heart of city," said Mary Ann Shing, agency president. "We're very grateful to the Mennonite Housing Development Corporation's Board of Directors for their generosity and desire to work with us in this important endeavor."
Just one block removed from the busy East Colfax and 17th Avenue corridors, the William Tell Apartment complex serves both seionrs and residents with disabilities. Brothers now owns four sites located just minutes the downtown Central Business District--an area that is seeing the amount of affordable housing decrease as sites and parcels are acquired by developers to create market-based housing.
The agency's other nearby locations include The Clayton Street Residences, located at 1455 Clayton St., Corona Residences, located at 1445 Corona St. and The Garfield Apartments, located at 2830 Garfield just north of City Park.
Brothers strives to offer a safe and comfortable setting in every building. all Brothers-owned sites see regulat inspections and audiets that ensure sound stweardship, regular maintenance and capital improvements. Offered at 30 percent of a qualified applicant's adjusted income (per federal guidelines), all of our properties feature a wide-array of amenities, including energy-rated appliances, inviting common spaces and off-street parking.
