Brothers offers some tips to protect your pipes and home from Colorado's wintry weather

Baby, it's cold outside.

And while Colorado's wintry weather can make for a pretty picture,  the accompanying chill can cause headaches for the state's homeowners.

Tha's why it's imporant to regularly check and insulate your pipes throughout the winter.  I can be an easy--and affordable--bit of preventative maintenance for a homeowner.

By simply wrapping or spraying their pipes with foam insulation, homeowners can avoid costly bills later.  By taking other energy saving measures, such as wrapping their hot water heaters with an insulated 'blanket', caulking their windows and placing weather stripping around doors and where other drafts may enter, they might also save money on their heat and electric bills.

Some federal and state tax credits may be available for home weatherization.

As part of our Home Maintenance and Repair Program, Brothers Redevelopment reguarly offers some basic weatherization services to it's clients--most of whom are physically or financially unable to tackle these measures on their own.
